We recently picked up our first jukebox. It has been sitting for many years after a failed attempt at repairs.
First of all I'll just say that I do have a PDF version of the Service Manual. While it is full of information and illustrations, it assumes one has experience with jukeboxes and are probably starting with a reasonably working machine.
Secondly, I have tried several searches and have not found what I think I need.
So, the main issue seems to be that the Takeout Arm is not rotating to the correct orientation when returning a record to the magazine. This results of the record flying to the back of the cabinet, and probably explains why there were a number of records laying back there when we picked up the jukebox. The Takeout arm stops up against the Record Guide with its open end facing outside the cabinet. Thus the Record Clamp is not engaging the pins on the Takeout Arm and the Safety Switch is not being depressed.
If I make a selection and the hold down the Safety Switch, the Takeout Arm will move without first picking up a record from the magazine and move to the turntable, though it doesn't always go down far enough for the Tone Arm to clear the Takeout Arm. Hitting the Cancel Switch will send the Takeout Arm back, where it jams up against the Record Guide.
My guess is that I'll need to take out that whole mechanism to get it 'timed' correctly. Any help here would be greatly appreciated!
Also, there is a light bulb under the mechanism that turns on and off for some reason.
On a side note, the label for the Service Switch has lost its printing. Which direction is which?
Lastly, I want to know how to get the Program Glass out. I removed the two Glass Clamps from the side of the Program Glass, but don't see what else needs to be removed. It appears that something had spilled at some point, and I need to clean the underside of the glass and the plastic sheet under it. Any suggestions on a safe cleaner/method to clean the plastic sheet without damaging the printing?
Sorry, one more side note. I'd like to get a clear idea of the latching mechanism for the top that is part of the cabinet key. The lock cylinder is there, along with the bracket that the top hooks latch into, but whatever connects the two is missing.
Other than being a bit dirty and beat up, it will play a record and sounds fairly decent. One of the drive belts had fallen off, and the other has a definite set to it. I'm sure the needle needs to be replaced as well.
Looking forward to hearing from you all!
