Cleaned wiper rings and contacts. They apply plenty of pressure. Counter works which seems to tell me switch 2a is functional. Don't get reset on levers either a or b. Wouldn't think both coils are bad. I'm running out of places to look. Reading the 444/445 theory of operation which says....the no2a cam switch now activates. This opens the circuit to the counter (works)and conects path to selection lever reset coils which pushes the pin back(not working) So maybe I have a bad connection between switch 2a and coils? Thank you

The counter working doesn't tell you that switch 2A is funtional - it might only be partially functional in that it's opening the circuit to the counter but not changing over fully (or the contact is bad) to energise the reset coil. Probably the easiest way to check whether it's the switch is to briefly link it out and see whether the reset coil energises.

Link it out? Do you mean jumper it or unplug? I swapped out the switch,so if it's that then I have 2 bad switches. Hard to inagine that. Thankyou

I don't think you said that you had changed the switch. Yes I meant jumper it. Switch 2A switches a ground and we know one side of the switch works because of the counter. Sticking a ground on the reset coil side of 2A should be reasonably easy. There's not a lot else in the circuit - the wipers, the reset coils and the A-B snap switch. It's not actually beyond the realms of possibility that there could be two bad reset coils; do they look burnt or can you check them for open circuit?

I checked them early on. Both have continuity.

We're running out of options! I had another thought - is switch 2A actually operating? In your first post you say that the counter incrementing proves 2A as functional but I don't think that is the case. Switch 2 provides power to the counter, 2A then removes the ground and applies it to the reset coil but if 2A didn't operate at all, the counter just gets a slightly longer pulse and would still increment.

I changed both coils and it's working fine now. Apparently "both" coils where bad. They didn't look burnt, but 1 had a loose wire at one coil, the other looked fine. They must have been internally shorted oto show continuity? This is why I like to have spare parts. I just didn't have an extra selection reset arm on hand, but did have a few coils. Like you said, not alot in the circuit. Anyway, thanks for the help. ALWAYS appreciated !!
