Rock-Ola 403 Wall Mount (1484/1494/403/430)
*YES - we have a manual and have consulted it extensively. NO - nobody seems to have a complete wiring schematic for any of the above mentioned wall mounts - which would possibly help if we did - if you know of one - it would greatly be appreciated if you could share.
Background - Machine was purchased with no known history - it arrived altered to permanent FREE PLAY by removing the spring pawl. SELECT light stays lit. YES - I know this is not the preferred method for free play - and will get around to changing that later.
PROBLEM: THE MACHINE WILL ONLY ALLOW ONE SELECTION TO BE PLAYED. The selection can be ANY of the 100 selections. The selection plays perfectly. BUT - you can not make any other selections after the first selection. The ONLY way to make another selection is to turn the machine OFF - and then turn on again - and you can then make ONE SELECTION again. This is tested - and will work every time the machine is powered off and on.
Here is a repeatable sequence of what happens:
MASTER POWER TURNED ON (with credits)
1. Lockbar immediately closes and
2. ADR #8 and #9 is already closed
MAKE ANY SELECTION and
1. Lockbar opens and
2. ADR #8 and #9 open ... when they should be remaining closed because there are credits (it is in free play mode)
RECORD PLAYS
NO FURTHER SELECTIONS CAN BE MADE (LOCK BAR NOT ACTIVATED TO ALLOW SUBSEQUENT SELECTION TO REGISTER)
MACHINE POWER OFF
1. ADR #8 & #9 CLOSE
The moving plate which moves ADR #8 and #9 will never close again until the machine power is turned off, thus no selections are able to be made... and YOU CAN GO BACK TO TOP AND REPEAT the cycle ...
All contacts on the Write-In Unit Assembly and the Switchboard have been cleaned - and nothing appears to stuck open or closed. ADR #8 when manually opened and closed will operate the lock bar perfectly.
THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE IN THIS ATTRACT DELAY RELAY -- whatever is telling the electromagnet to raise or lower the moving plate which opens or closes the contacts. If it has credits (Free Play) it should immediately close back after each selection registers. The coil doesn't seem to be the problem or I would not think it would not work perfectly ONCE when the machine is powered on every single time.
Any help greatly appreciated.
PS -- I have not listed EVERYTHING we have looked at or function tested - and if you think of something - I can tell you if we looked at it.
