Hi, I have a 1972 Rockola 452 console which I've had for about 5 years; runs and plays excellent. I never gave the following a second thought until about a year ago, but just finally decided to post about it.
As with many of you that have Rockola models during the early 70's you probably have a similar pricing of:
1 Quarter= 2 Selections 2 Quarters or 1 Half Dollar= 5 Selections
Issue: When I insert back to back 2 quarters (and not making any selection in between), I'm only getting a total of 4 selections. When I insert a half dollar, I get the correct 5 selections as marked. It's as if that second quarter is not being accounted as a bonus 3 selection quarter. Where's that extra credit going; or not going?
Is there a setting in the coin mechanism I'm missing; I've looked in the 3 manuals I have and am obviously probably overlooking something so minute.
Basically just wondering why my jukebox has been holding out on me for 5 years worth of that extra quarter credit.
Any help would be appreciated; thanks!

Have you got the "2 - 3 quarters" adapter kit? I don't have the 452 manual but that kit is covered in the 453 manual.
Norman.

I have it, switch is now flipped and is working as should! I could have sworn that it was giving me 5 credits the first week I purchased it. I remember as I was cleaning/restoring wondering what the heck it was for. Hoping nothing would go wrong, I bit the bullet, flipped the switch, didn't notice a difference, and guess I left it at that. I just thought maybe there was something in the main credit housing mechanism with the ratchet that knew 2 were being inserted back to back (and the manual just didn't make any mention of it). I always saw that "kit" (2144) in the manual and its written as "2/3 quarter adapter assembly" multiple times in the book. I took 2/3 as being some fraction plus quarter (1/4; didn't take it as being monetary). It went into depth on how it functions and the schematics of it, but not really what it's purpose was (nothing about additional or "bonus" credits; just "the 2,3,2,3,2 function") so I disregarded it. Now it makes sense! Now that I know what it is, it's the same thing that's called the "quarter credit accumulator" which is mentioned elsewhere and vague of its purpose. I didn't put 2 and 2 together that it was the same thing... duh. My jukebox uses the 450-451 manuals, with mine having its own little supplemental one for parts and the 5 speaker layout. My troubleshooting manual covers 447-452. From what I've gathered over the years, the 453 and up are redesigned as far as the amp and power supply are concerned; credit-wise I assume its probably similar. Now that I dig deeper, it appears that the 452's "2/3 quarter adapter" was the last model to use the mechanical design, before they went to all solid state for the 453. Well, thanks a bunch; that was a quick "flip of the switch" fix. Also got to learn what that infamous "2/3 quarter adapter" is for!
