I have a Rockola 1428 where I'm pretty sure the old "rebuilt" crystal cartridge started to hum and then went dead. I'm trying to install the new Astatic 51 modern replacement cartridge. The pick-up cable is to short for the new Astatic, so I was looking how to take the cobra style tone arm off the pedestal, but can't quite tell how to do it. The 1428 pick-up cable is sectioned off in two pieces underneath with a leaf switch in between the two section. Naturally, the old Rockola manual is useless when it comes to "how to remove" parts.
Has anyone on the forum ever completed this task and give me some pointers, i.e......HELP!
