So I got the 1700 working last weekend and it sounds pretty good! This week it has decided to go on strike as it won't credit up, neither with a coin or with the credit button on the keyboard assembly. The add and subtract credit unit seems to be in order with all switches making and if I turn the motor shaft with my fingers the credit motor takes off and cycles but does not add credits. Now as I've stated this era Wurlitzer is a weakness for me as I've only ever had my head inside them a few times. I'm hoping it's something simple that I've overlooked, any suggestions welcome!

Please excuse the title model # error, Fat fingers, small keyboard! One more piece of information, if I add credits by turning the credit motor it steps up but latch solenoid does not pull in and won't add credit with switch or coin.

Hi Mauro, How do you know it is not "adding credit "? I don't recall that unit--worked on a few a long time ago--but don't they have a "credit wheel" ? Is it turned enough that the "key switch" is making GOOD contact ( measure with an ANALOG meter, only--power off). See the schematic, but If I recall correctly, the key switch powers up a credit relay ? The credit relay powers up the keyboard coin THROUGH, a set of contacts, that are NC until coil is energized. Ron, I've checked all the switches you mentioned and all working as they should. I've spent hours adjusting and readjusting the full cycle switch cams and although I could get the latch solenoid to energize it wouldn't make a selection, keys stay locked. When I drop a coin in, it trips the coin switch and releases the coin return magnet but that's it, motor does not turn. Pressing the free play button does nothing. Could the 0.1 capacitor in the junction box affect this circuit, it's difficult to know from the schematic? Only other thing I can think of is the leaf switches behind the selectors and latch solenoid? I've cleaned and adjusted them previously so haven't gone back there yet as I'm just really suspicious of the Contact Plate Assembly, but I've adjusted it no less than 5 times! Seeburgs seem to make so much sense after spending a day on this 1700! Sigh...

Mauro, Are you checking contacts as per the FAQ's above, using a GOOD, Analog type, meter ? Sure the leaf switches in the key board are suspicious-- ALWAYS ! I don't have the schematic, but doubt the .01 is for anything other then to prevent spark--are the contacts it's across pitted -- if so the cap's not doing that job ! If latching, I seriously would look at the keyboard area switches-- Ron Rich
