I have been considering a spare mono cartridge, just in case, for the Seeburg machines I have. I have an early one that Vern manufactured and now his son, Jason, has them available. I just wondered if anyone has bought and used that cartridge? The early one I bought from Vern seems excellent. I think Jason may have improved the new ones even more. Thanks!

IMHO, There is no need for a "spare" cartridge, as Seeburg used all Pickering mag. carts from 1949,on. If you are going to use the Tisdale cart. you need to have the tone arm adjusted for no more then 4 grams needle pressure. If you have a model B-GW, you will need to use the newer (model R, up) springs to accomplish this. Ron Rich

Ron, There you go saving me money once again! Since I've never had a Seeburg Redhead or blackhead fail I probably don't need a spare. I had a couple with cracks but they kept going. Wish I had kept a couple of the Redheads when I restored a Seeburg and bought those fancy Pickerings. I see the Tisdale cartridge is out of stock at Needles4 jukeboxes so perhaps Jason is not going to make anymore or hopefully is getting more made.

Hi David, I have seen a number of mono "black heads" fail, but they are re-build-able ( as long as someone has not ruined the needle holder !) Ran into a "new wedge" style cart., that opened in the last month or so--suprized me, as I have only seen one other (was BRAND new !) that was bad--?
