I picked up a se100 a couple of weeks ago. Complete with coin mech and cash box. I started off with recapping the tsa9 and scc9 and I also recapped the coin mech. I lubricated the record mech. It was picking up selections great. It would miss a couple of selections, but after cleaning the selector switches, it fixed that problem. Everything was working great and I was putting records until all of sudden the scan twice problem. It fails the battery test. It passes the lining up with the detent switch test. And it passes the jumper wire between tb3101 pin 3 and k3100 test. I replaced all of the out of tolerance resistors in the scc9, but still the same problem.

Place an Analog meter on the "read-out" test screw, Look for 300vdc un-regulated, when the Detent switch is open. Make a selection, watch meter--should read 55-65 % of open switch reading. Is the Detent switch clean--free of pits and adjusted as per manual ? By any chance, did you change the reversing switch paddle, while the mech was scanning ? Ron Rich

I'm getting 371vdc with mech unhooked and the detent switch open and the voltage drops to around 50vdc when I plug the mech in. I have cleaned the detent switch but haven't adjusted it.

Also I haven't reversed the paddle while it was scanning cause I know it would bend the tormat contacts.

You should get a "steady" reading of around 155 to 175 vdc--are you using a GooD (damped-20k/v) analog meter ? The "50 volt" reading indicates a Detent switch WAY out of adjustment ! Ron Rich How did you "clean"/ (using what) that switch ? Ron Rich

I'm using a vtvm. I dont an regular analog multimeter.

I have no idea what this type meter will, or will not do, in this circuit. Do you have a "Seeburg Digital Tester" (CT-1) ? If so, tap the case of the SCS while mechanism is scanning--Detent relay should energize. If you don't have the tester--build it--consists of a AA cell, and a #112 lamp wired in series with probes. Pos. end of cell connects thru lamp. Use + end for test. ( - end of AA cell + end of cell--- lamp---probe) Ron Rich

Is the detent relay the trip relay?

Sorta yes--and no-- Generally in "Seeburg ease", Detent is used to indicate stopping the mech's scan sequence--"trip (off)", is used to indicate the end, or canceling of the record. For the record--both fire the same coil ! Ron Rich

What I was asking was the detent relay is the k3100 relay? I dont have a tester, but I'll build one. Where do you connect the pos. and neg. ?

I went back and redone detent switch continuity test and it failed. It shows continuity between the magazine racks

On the detent switch adjustment. A record separator has to be in the middle of the lifting arm correct?

That's not what the Manual says--but yes, that will happen if correctly adjusted.

The manual I have is hard to follow cause it covers the s100 model on service. But i also have tony Miller manual on jukeboxes of the 60s and early 70s which helps.

Doing to continuity test through the L1100 inductor is pretty much going through the tormat rivet to ground right? As I'm rolling the carriage by hand as soon as the contact touches the rivet I get continuity and the transfer arm is lined up in center (between the record separators) and continuity continues until I'm in the middle of the next record separator. Sorry I'm having a hard time understanding the continuity test.
