The subject: 1955 Rockola M/N 1452
The issue: I need Title Strips
The dilemma: Seems to me like dang near "everyone and their brother" offers something that may work, whether they be here (in the FAQ), or via some of the more "usual suspects" online.
But I'm getting overloaded with options, and now I'm not sure I understand what I'm looking at. I'd prefer to keep things as OEM as possible, and while I'm not opposed to printing and cutting my own strips, I "think" I would prefer to have them perforated, with the background(?) preprinted. But that means I need some sort of software with which to print the Name and Artist, right? if so, what, where, how.....(Heck, I don't know enough about this to even ask the dang question coherently!)
Those that have been down this road, care to speak-up as to what you've used?
Thank you!
Jim

Hi Jim, Good question I would never have pondered--as I "grew up" in the commercial jukebox world. ALL Juke makers gave out some blank (red/white, background printed) strips with a purchase of a new phono. There were two "formats" -- either 5 strips side by side on a single perforated, card, or 10 strips in line on a card. Records, if purchased from a "one stop" ( specialized in selling records, in volume, to operators) came with pre-printed perforated strips. Some operators preferred to type their own rather then using pre-printed ones as they would be more uniform. When I needed strips, way back in 1994, I got a new Mac, and made my own program to print them--using the pre-printed red, available, 5x5 type blanks. That worked well till last year, when the old Mac quit. My only suggestion at this point in time is to use the correct thickness paper--especially if "back-lit". Ron Rich

How odd, strange how timing works out sometimes. I've been printing and cutting my own because I wanted the uniform look and I couldn't stand handwritten ones. I bought some card but couldn't find a good bit of software I really liked as I wanted the classic font from the original tags. So, I created a custom template in vector designer and handcrafted every label. This was OK, for a while, then got really irritating. Since I can develop software, I've turned the whole process into a bit of software that I was planning on sharing here anywhere. So, without further introduction: gilphilbert.github.io/jblabels/This should be pretty easy to use - enter your titles/artists, change any settings you want (top bar) and click "Create". It'll give you a PDF you can print - make sure you're printing 'full size'. At the moment, it supports a single font, a single design and a single color (I hope you like red). However, I'm still working on it so anything can be changed. Want blue? Different font? Just let me know! Ron, an interesting point that's possible is that I could add support for your perforated sheets (by not printing the design) but I don't have any sheets to use as a reference and I need to know where to print the text.

Will do.
I've added support for blue, green and purple as well. More to come (including other designs)

Phil,
Wow! I just "played around" with this a little, and on my laptop they look just like the ones I remember seeing back when I was a kid....about 45+ years ago!
Like most other things I can't do for myself, in my opinion what you've created is dang near "Magic", and when I get home (I'm traveling for work this week) I'll print-out a few, see how they fit my holders, and get back to you!
This looks really promising! Thank you for posting this!
(Ron, if you're reading this, are these perforated "Sterling" cards still available somewhere, or are they being reproduced by anyone? Normally I would do my own searching, but it's late, and I have to be "Up and At 'em" again in a little over 6 hours).
Regards,
Jim

Not sure what happened to it, but I know Jim asked this:
I just had another thought as I was about to shut-down my laptop for the night...
Phil,
I know you just created this, but are you thinking of creating a Christmas background?
Jim
Yep, already had that planned. I'm open to multiple designs. If you guys have any preferences on designs, send me what you'd like to see (examples from online are fine) and I'll see what I can do!
<EDIT> Just to add, now supports colored fills and a selection of two fonts (I'll add more as well </EDIT>

Phill, I see the original Sterlings offered from time to time on ePay-- we copied them exactly--used to sell them, but both me and my bud, are now down to our last packages. --BTW--I did throw in some AJ printed Christmas blanks in the envelope-- and I probably have some "originals" around here somewhere--. Phil,
Yes, I posted about Christmas backgrounds exactly as you captured, but upon some quick reflection (but not quick enough!), I thought this was rather greedy of me, so before shutting-down my computer I came back here and deleted the posting.
I'm sorry for the confusion, and quite honestly, somewhat amazed, not only that you saw it, but that you were able to capture it!
Regardless, know that I'm quite grateful for what you've done, and that I'm really looking forward to flying home so I can try them out here:
Regards,
Jim

Great! You'll have to let me know how it goes.
I used some 175gsm card to print on - should fit in most printers, but might cause problems for backlit machines as it's pretty thick. You can always start with plain paper and go from there.

Phil, It would be my guess that 95% of jukeboxes using "duplex" strips are back-lit. Plain paper do not work-- it always either curls or just plain won't remain in place--

Interesting. The photos are great for getting the colors right on the designer I'm working on. Speaking of that, I've made a load of changes: - Select a style (the original "arrows" design, the equally popular "diamond" pattern or a copy of the Christmas pattern with Holly either side. I'm working on another as well)
- Select a color and whether you want the artist or title background colored too (currently, it only supports a shaded version of the main color)
- Select a font (currently there's the original one, a condensed version of the original and a "typewriter" style)
Once I have the cards Rob has sent, I'll work on a mode that's designed to print directly to the perforated labels. In the meantime, let me know if you have any suggestions. I should probably write an actual post about this thing so more people see it!

Phil,
You should have the strips I sent--don't know what "Rob" sent ? The ones I sent are EXACT copies of the (Star, and Sterling) ones Seeburg gave out, from time to time. They also, often used the 10 strip, in a row pattern. Ron Rich
