Obtain a Rock Ola 481 that does nothing! No lights or anything that shows any remote possibility of life. Really have no interest in keeping the machine but part of me would like to see if I can get it up and running.
First of all let me start out by saying .... I have never worked on a juke before nor am I an Electrical Engineer so .......... here goes:
Things I have checked are the fuses in the machine and all test ok. I know it's not the cord as I have power into the machine. My understanding is, if the mechanism (turntable, armature etc.) is frozen this will shut the machine down in order to avoid smoking the machine. I can manually rotate the gears to the mechs.
Supposedly, per the previous owner, the machine worked when he took it out of the bar it was in. He brought it home and a few weeks later he turned it on and nothing!
Any advice as to what to look for is much appreciated and if you can put it into Jukebox for dummies terms all the more appreciated!
Thanks in advance! meSz

Hi Mesz, Well, first off--Please, read our FAQ's section-- Second---there ainna no such athing as a RockOla 851? Third--- The turn table motor, if this is a 45 rpm record player, and if frozen, has an internal safety bi-metal circuit breaker. The operation of that motor, or, non, operation of that motor, will have no bearing on the function of the rest of that phono, other then not turning the TT, which will prevent the needle from tracking to cancel a record. Ron Rich Ron, appreciate trying to help out! I can use a meter, not proficient by any means but..... I am getting around .6 when I test the cord coming into the machine and also (approx) the same reading on the main fuse (this is the first fuse in line coming off the switch terminal that the cord comes into)!
