Hello,
I recently obtained a NSM Firebird II wall mounted jukebox.
My first question: When I power up the jukebox the fan briefly spins up, then stops, is this normal? Will it only spin when the temperature warrants it?
Second question: There is a key switch on the left side of the jukebox, what is its' purpose?
Third question: I am getting a 73 error code, I made sure that there are no binds in the lift mech, are there sensors insides the unit that if dirty can cause this error.
Thanks,
BJ

BJ, Cabinet names on NSM's, like most brands are meaningless-- need to have the "ES #" and use the correct "cheat sheet", or manual for that number. Ron Rich

Ron,
This NSM is an ES-V and I am in the process of getting a manual off of the web.
In the meanwhile any information you give give me about my 3 questions would be greatly appreciated. Any other info you could provide would also be appreciated.
Thanks,
J

BJ, Are you sure about the ES # ? There was a ES V, and an ES V.1 update. These are similar, but different operating systems--error numbers are different too. Manuals suck for these-- Fan, if I recall is for the amp outputs-- fires up when needed to cool them- Key lock--I think puts phono on "free play" -- Error # 73--dono ? Ron Rich

Rick,
Once again, thank you for your reply.
I got the ES-V from the amp board and the cd controller board.
The cd player in the mech is a Phillips CDM 4I, same as in my Rowe-Ami CD100-B.
I bought this jukebox for a price that if I part it out, I'll do more that break even, but I hate to part out jukeboxes. The other reason I got this box was to use as a reference for the timing of the page unit.
I have a NSM Emerald Ice (sorry no ES# right now) that I replaced the CD unit in and it plays great. I have literally taken this jukebox totally apart, cleaned, cleaned, painted, to the point that the last time it was this clean, it was "new".
But I took the page unit ALL apart to clean and lube it, but the manual only covers putting the title pages in. I need the initial timing of all the transport "screws" so I can install the pages.
So that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
I'm 71 years old and still find this stuff is hard to let go of,
J

BJ, Who's "Rick" ?? been called "Ron", and "Rich", and a few other things "unfit to print", but i think this is a first-- OK youngster-- can't help you much there--I have only had to do that once, and it was an ES-4 type cover display. Hope you axked the person offering the download if the display was covered-- otherwise, see our FAQ's section and order it from the Hildegard in Germany. Ron Rich

Ron,
Sorry! I sent the post while having my 3rd or was it the 4th, maybe the 5th, that's it, the 5th Miller Lite. You should see what happens when I call my wife by the wrong first name.
I have been own my own before, but if I finally figure out the initial timing on the title page unit, I will try to post the info on the website.
Hey, no matter what they or I call you, your still "THE MAN"!

BJ the fan is normal as it runs when the amp is playing. the code 73 is "malfunction during lift drive playing of CD not possible" the cd not only has the rails that the lift runs on but also there are infrared sensors that tell it where it is at. when you get your manual you will need to clean an lubricate the mech. also with these jukes make sure that the memory battery is up to snuff. it is integrated into a chip, so it is not obvious. otherwise it will reset every time you turn it off, (hint, the volume must be adjusted at every turn on). the last time I checked they are still available in the UK.
