What are the main components I would need to make an SC1 work as originally designed? Would having the resistor installed work to eliminate the money validator ? I'm interested in going old school with my wallbox just not sure exactly what components are needed. Aa777rob Dallas

Hi Rob, Not quite sure watchew wanna do-- If it is just to use one SC-1 with the smallest amount of wire you can, it can be done with 3 wires, same as earlier WOM's. In this case you will need to strap the 3 coin wires to the 25 vac (white) wire using a 12 ohm/10 watt resistor. I strongly suggest the fuse be added, if not on your SC-1. (see the Service Manual). Yes for my SC1, id like to get a record player hooked up and play 45s off of it. I have the iPod working off one now. I bought 2 more! I didn't know what player unit for the 45s would work.

Rob, If by "player unit" you are speaking of a "jukebox", any Seeburg built after 1949, if equipped with a correct stepper/translator ( models up thru the LPC-1's stepper would need a major modification, but it can be done). If you are looking for an "A-daptor" to take the place of a jukebox, contact Mr. Grumpy at Data Sync Eng. ( listed in our FAQ's section). Ron Rich

Do you mean a record playing (real) jukebox? If so any 160 select model from LPC to LS2 will work if you also have a stepper. Personal recommendations are SS160 thru LS2. These are very simple (for a jukebox) electronically and use the later pickup and amps with mostly silicon transistors for more stable performance and better sound. The LS1 & 2 are native 45 so you won't be using an auto-speed for 45. They are also fairly cheap but, big and heavy. RobNYC

I just want to use my SC1 wallbox, so I was just trying to configure it to hook up with whatever unit its designed to work with. I'm just not sure what was made that'll play 45s using the SC1.

Rob, They were designed to work with the then current (1963) year model, LPC-1R phonograph. Ron Rich

So it played off an actual jukebox? I thought it was a record player unit mounted somewhere. I'm learning.

Rob, Yes--either that or there were "hideaway" units that just had a playing mechanism and amp inside a plain "hidden" cabinet. Ron Rich

Is there a specific playing mechanism like you talk about so ill know what to look for ? I'd love to set one of my wallbox's to play actual 45s. I guess it would have to hold 100 of them.

Rob, Go to our FAQ's page, find the late Tony Millers website--he has photo's of Seeburg jukeboxes there--any "160" select unit built between the LPC and the LS-2, if equipped with a (Remote Controlled)Stepper Unit (RCSU) ( an option on all but the LPC-1R), is designed to work directly with that SC-1. Later, MocroLog models will require an optional "translator" (SRT). Late, 100 select units, from the S-100, up to the 100-77D models will also work, if equipped with the optional RCSU. Ron Rich
