Almost done stripping a 100B for a full refurb. Just like most Bs, this unit has gone through at least one 'beautification', painted with quite an offputting off white textured paint. During deconstruction, i peeled out the foil liner, and it doesnt look anything like any of the reproduction descriptions available: Seems kinda gold, sorta bronze, but I suppose it could be silver and just REALLY REALLY dirty/tarnished, and these definitely aren't squares or diamonds, more like scallops. Anyone seen this before? Could it be original? I thought 100Bs had silver of some kind. Any help appreciated...thanks Andy

That is certainly an original foil, originally gold in color. The embossed metal diamond liner is original too. I believe the "B" had the silver metal "diamonds", and the "BL" had the Mylar like gold sea shell pattern. Whenever I've replaced this foil, I've used the small gold square pattern (1/4"). As far as I know, the sea shell type foil is not reproduced.
BTW, it's the same with the "wings" on the mechanism, BL's had press board wings with the gold sea shell pattern, B's had metal "wings" with the diamond pattern.

Hi Marty, I think, that like the rear mechanism "dust shield", and rear door cover, both metal and "Masonite" were interchanged on the wings too--due to "wartime" metal shortages--Seeburg would have used whichever was less expensive, on the day they needed to re-order ! Ron Rich

Rich, both my wings and my dust cover (ok, flat board with Lube chart on it) are masonite. Thanks for the info Marty. Oddly when I peeled out the rest of it (my picture was only one of the small square from the door trim) the parts hiding under trim pieces looked more silver. Probably just some of the foil peeling away from the plasticy (mylar??) substrate. The part on the top of this picture was hidden away under the curved metal trim piece. Definitely lighter in color. This thing is filthy!! Will most likely go with silver to replace. The unit is most certainly a B not a BL (red mech, tan cover). A new discovery every day!!

A few years late, but here is a photo of the gold foil from a 100BL.

Thank you for posting the photo. The BL I am working on only has the gold scallopson the wings. It seems like it would have been some work to remove all of the other foil. The model number on the tag is a BL, and the rack is the proper green. Even the gold foil on the back door is missing. Everything is the shiny silver diamonds. It looks like the foil was not installed at the factory.
