I am helping a curator of an industrial design exhibit and one of the product designs we plan to have on display is a Seeburg Golden Jet or the Musical Bandshell from the very early 1970's. The exhibit will be in Evanston, Ilinois and is scheduled from February - March of 2019. So we would rent it for those months and for convenience, it would be nice if we could find an available jukebox in the Midwest.
If you might have any information for our rental of a Seeburg Golden Jet or Bandshell, please let me know.
Thank you, Chas

Hi Chas, The SE-100 "Golden Jet" may be difficult to locate, as it mostly was sold as a "export" model. The USC-1 Bandshell, or the USC-2 Bandshell/Firestar ( do you know/care which "Firestar" ?) should be an easier find-- do you need it to operate, or just light up ? Let me know some more details--like do you want it delivered to Evanston, or can you pick it up-- What are you thinking on amount(s) of rent ?? Ron Rich

Hi Ron,
Thanks very much for the good info! That's interesting your mention of the Golden Jet was more of an export model. My Dad, Stowe Myers, designed the cosmetics of the Golden Jet and I remember him saying that Seeburg was looking for a design that would sell better in Europe and that op art design is what Stowe came up with. I'm pretty sure he designed the Firestar as well. For this exhibit, it won't need to play but having the lights work would be nice. Regarding shipping, I could probably rent a van and pick it up if it's in WI, IL or IN. I'm hoping the Evanston Art Center will be able to help on this. The exhibit opens February 16. So I'm thinking I'd need to get it set up in the gallery around February 13. So Rental would be February 13 - March 24. As far as a reasonable rental amount, you would know best on that.
Before locating a Firestar, I should get a firm commitment from the Evanston Art Center executive director. I will get back with you as soon as I get that from them.
Ron, thanks again for considering my interest. It's exciting that a Firestar could become an important part of the Exhibit. Chas. myers4050@gmail.com

Chas, My compliments to your Dad--That's one of my favorite cabinet designs ! The Firestar is also one of my favorite ( electronically/mechanically--it was not "Seeburg's greatest" !) cabinets. Ron Rich
