I've been working on a LS2, and almost got it up and going. I've got a selection problem I can't figure out. I can select all of the a side records fine, with the exception of it won't select A1. When I select a B side record,(so mech is going right to left), it selects one record short of where it should. For example if I select K4 it detents at one record to the right of there. I've got the record rack and tormat adjusted as it should be. Any ideas what else I might look for? Thanks, Lincoln

Hi Lincoln, Nope-- you "don't got" the record rack and TMU adjusted as it should be-- the TMU is "off" --possibly so is the record rack, which is why I dis-courage record rack removal at all costs (see my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide") ! Did you remove the clutch assembly ? Did you also "monkey with" the lift arm sideways adjustment ? If so, you gotta start all over again. Ron Rich

Lincoln, the way I've always aligned the post VL tormat machines is to manually trip and fully detent the mech @ C-1. At that point the A plunger should be slightly onto the next rivet (E-1) and the B side plunger equally onto the B1 rivet. This may not be the answer here, but worth re-checking.

Rob, That's probably an OK check for one that has not been "messed with" but won't be of much help here, till the very last step-- Also, on all TMU models EXCEPT the "V's", I attempt to hit the TMU dead center, where the split is between two TMU sections, and "dead center" the plunger, rather then "off set" it as described in the manuals. Use of an Analog meter, as I describe in my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide", will allow you to get this adjustment "spot-on". Ron Rich

Ron, I did have the clutch out for cleaning and oiling. I also did "monkey with" the side to side adjustment of the lift arm. I'll go back through it.
When I was working on it last night, I tried making small adjustments right and left with the tormat. I could get it to either select an a side correctly or a b side correctly, but never both.

Hi Lincoln, Remove the TMU--center the rack on the base, center the mechanism carriage on the rack, near the center of that rack. Adjust the lift arm to a near centered position ( If you can't get it near centered, you will need to shift the clutch assembly one tooth. Then add the TMU and center it-- As a finale check, manually detent it at the B-1 slot-- the plunger sensor pin, must be "outside" the last TMU rivet, and the reversing switch must not have "flipped"--yet--- same for the V-8 end. Then use a good analog meter to fine tune the adjustment, as per my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide" Contact me off forum at ronnnrich@yahoo.com if you need to purchase it. Ron Rich

Thanks for the help, got it this time. I centered everything like you said, and it's working like a champ.
