I recently went through the selection receiver on my HF100R. While testing, I found that the output of the original selenium rectifier was very low. I went ahead and replaced it with a modern bridge rectifier (and added a fuse to protect the transformer winding). With the new bridge the DC voltage is around 29 volts. Is this too high? The schematic shows 25 volts. Everything is working great, just don't want to shorten the life of any part of the selection receiver.

No, that is fine and what is to be expected.

That DC circuit in all phonos made from 1949 to, but not including the , 1960 AY xxxU's will operate OK if the voltage is above 16 VDC. Later tube type units required a minimum of 25 VDC. Ron Rich

Thanks guys. My original selenium rectifier was only putting out 15 VDC, so I figured it was best to go ahead and replace it.
