I have a pretty specific issue but, some background: I have a manual. The sprag wheel was worn down and I replaced it (the sprag mount with all its bushings being soft was in good condition). After doing the sprag wheel installation properly and doing all the optical switch and sensitivity adjustments properly it works great! It stops on the correct record every time. Except the record it selects is always the one immediately after the one I've punched in. Everything else is working as it should what am I missing?

Drew, Confusing--you state it "stops on the correct record every time."-- but then you state it selects the next one ?? One other question for you--Is the basket FULL of records, or not ?? Ron Rich

Sorry I mean to say that the sprag wheel doesn't slip anymore since I replaced it (it was worn down evenly across all the teeth, I guess the previous owner had it on continuous random play). Before I replaced it could be off by as much as 5 or 6 records stopping inconsistently. Now it stops consistently however it is the record right after the selection. The carriage is completely full of records.

Drew, Did you use a new "Gray colored", or white, gear--did you replace all of the grommets ? Did you dis-assemble clean, and re-adjust the sprag coil and plunger, as per the manual ?

I got the right sprag wheel (a NOS grey one not the white one) I didn't replace the grommets because they were in such good condition. They were very soft and pliable. When I select 99 it plays 00 as with all selections (the one right after).
I have not disassembled cleaned or adjusted the sprag coil and plunger but definitely can. Mechanically everything seemed to be working so well I wondered if it's not some sort of programming issue. Anything that comes to mind will help.
Thanks!

I should say it does actually still slip occasionally, although it goes back to playing the selections one off like it normally does when I make another selection.

Drew, Well, 1. If you did not change the grommets, you should, as they are usually the first thing wrong ! (be SURE that there is NO oil, anywhere near them !) 2.Did you change both halves of that gear ?--you should ! 3. See the service manual-- you need to adjust the "home position" correctly, at 99, and clean-re-adjust that plunger/coil as per the manual, then check the adjustment at all 4 positions, as stated. Yeah everything is in good condition and working correctly it turns out I just goofed while reinstalling the sprag assembly. The assembly once mounted slides to the left and right and you have to tighten it down with a record lined up directly under the transfer arm. The distance the assembly will slide corresponds to two record spaces travel of the carriage. I chose to center it over one when I should have centered it over the other. All good now I knew I must have goofed something.

I also cleaned the sprag lever of some plastic build up from the wheel which I hadn't noticed before so that might have been contributing to the occasional slipping which appears to have abated.

Hi Drew,
The motor plate slots allow for the mechanism to be adjusted over 3 slots, I always adjust it for the middle one. With the R-89 to R-94 jukebox not only do you do the mechanical adjustment at location 99 for the opto switch (note the red plug on this range of jukeboxes)you also need to adjust the home and index pots on the mechanism control as per the manual. That's interesting because my mechanism slides just over two record spaces and I had adjusted it over what seemed like the middle one which turned out to be wrong. I readjusted it over the other record slot and it works. I think I really lucked out with my Rowe the amp and pretty much all the mechanics were in excellent shape. It was last used in a bar in 1992 and since then in someones home and the only things I've had to do are replace the sprag wheel and clean the sprag lever and it's working like a charm. There are a couple of minor cosmetic issues and I don't have the coin op but that's not a big deal to me.
I really appreciate this forum and the guys answering!
