I have an LS-1 that I want to inspect the wiring on the speakers. How do you access them? I read in the service manual and all it says is to remove the four screws on the grill. I don't see four screws that can be removed except for the six under the main lid when it opens, but those are on the lid, not the cabinet.

Stephen, Got the I and O manual--there's a drawing in it. I can't recall where the screws are--but they were there, at one time ! Ron Rich

Thanks Ron. I've been looking in the service manual and it was not helpful.

Stephen,
I had mine off yesterday to service the filter caps.
There are 6 or 7 screws that you need to remove. A few of them are underneath the fluorescent light bulb. Once you get all the screws out, close the lid and you can lift the panel off.
There are two "reflectors" that are glued on the back side of the panel that are "over" the smaller speakers, mine had fallen off and were creating a pretty good rattle.
With the rattle fixed and new filter caps on the two smaller speakers, the phono sound is greatly improved.
Good luck. Bill
