I have a NSM city II it will scan find the correct record and start to load it. After getting it almost all the way in to the clamp the motor stops running. The turn table motor is running I can turn the black motor by hand and it will finish loading and the tone arm sets down on the record but there still is no sound. Can anyone help me with this Please. I have a manual that the person I got it from had but cant see what keeps the motor running till it loads.
Thank You for your Time
Dave

Dave, I have some brief notes that I made on the basic operation of a City II that I worked on a few years ago. Maybe they might be of some help to you?
"When a selection is registered, the scan relay FA and motor relay MO come in. When the carriage reaches the selection, the trip relay AM is energised which in turn operates the trip solenoid AM. The record now transfers to the turntable. When the record is mounted, the operating switch BS changes over. This in turn enables the opto coupler and switches off T529 resulting in the motor being stopped via motor relay MO. The record now plays until the opto-coupler GK500 is switched by the tone arm at the end of the record. This then energises the motor relay MO via T529 and the record is returned to the rack. DS at the rear of the carriage is the reversing switch."

Thank You this give me something to go on there is no sequence of operation in the manual I have. It starts to load the record and stops just before it starts to clamp the record.

Yes Ron, the BS switch is probably a good place to start! Although I'n not clear why he wouldn't get sound when he completes loading the record manually! It's always easier, I think, when you can look at it with your own beady eyes.

Thanks to everyone for your help it got me to the problem. The micro switch that runs on the cam was opening to soon and stopping the load so when I would turn the motor by hand to finish the load the record would play the reason there was no sound there was a broken wire in the pick up leads if I moved them around I had sound. Thanks again Dave

my City II ES II, for some reason is not working. Display shows ERR C. record mech, just moves left to right and back all day, cannot credit machine or play, due to the ERR C any insight as to where to look, also does this unit have a mem, IC or battery, i have not dug that deep as of yet.
Thank you B
