Hi All,
EDIT: From my experience, and what I have been tolt-- this applies equally, to the RockOla plastic grippers.
A very common problem with the black "plastic" gripper assembly is it gets somewhat "sticky". When this happens--DO NOT "oil it"!!! It MUST be left dry, at all times- EZ way to "fix" this is to remove a record (or CD), select the empty space allow the gripper bow to go to top of it's arch, and shut the motor off at that point. Now take your hand and push on the two, spring loaded assemblies, that contact the record--both of them must be exercised about ten times each---push against the spring, and let them "snap" back. This generally repairs this problem--if not, disassembly and cleaning is required.
On AMi's with a metal assembly--see the STICKY note, in the RockOla section. Ron Rich

Hi Ron,
I tend to strip the gripper bow assembly down and wash all the parts in warm water, dry off and inspect for any wear the the parts, the most common problem is that the fixed trunnion gear distorts especially if someone has oiled the parts. The Trunnion & Cam gear are made of nylon so the effect against the cast gears is virtually self lubricating. The only lubrication on the gripper bow assemblies is high melting point grease in the trunnion casting pivot sockets.

Hi Alan, I do the same, if need be-- but so far, on most of them just "snapping" the sections seems to do it-- Ron Rich
