My amp is screeching when powered up? I wanted to change the power transistors. The # on them is 14062. Does somebody have a cross reference to a replacement I can order? There are other problems with this jukebox. But one step at a time.

Hi Ron
I don't believe the amp has been updated. I printed the update sheet from Flippers.com. The sheet reference a 556 and a 556 S1 amp. The one I have is a 556, that is what is printed on the amp.
I am not able to make a selection when the free play switch in in the free play position. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Ron
I just acquired this jukebox. The person I bought it from said it worked but had a hum after being turn on for 5 minutes. I am a trusting person bad idea..
There are all sorts of problems with this juke. I have not worked on this typ of juke before. I need some help.. would it be possible to talk to you on the phone? My home number is 208-777-2957 cell is 208-699-8512. I have several pins and jukes in my collection. Rock ola 1422.Wurlitzer 2600, Mills Throne of music 1941,Capehart 1928 and 5 pins.
The record rack would not stop running. I fixed that the ratchet wheel and hub assembly needed some Marvelous Marvin's oil now that works. I can set a pin by hand, but The record rack wont start looking for the pin? I worked on a Wurlitzer 1050 with this mech I think the record rack should start moving when a pin is set.

Larry, that sort of problem is typical of poor decoupling of various stages due to bad capacitors. That machine if well over 40 years old, so bad caps are to be expected. If the amp has been tampered with that opens the possibility of mistakes and stupid attempts at modifications. I've dealt with multiples of the latter, but it did mean the units were cheap since "handy Louie" couldn't fix it.

Larry,
On those machines, in order to start scanning, addition to setting a pin, you need to release the ‘override’ switch. The override switch is located at the right rear of the carousel, under a metal cover (you will need a 1/4” wrench or socket to remove the cover)
Once the cover is off, pull back on the solenoid plunger to release the switch. The machine should (hopefully) start scanning.
Oh, while I’m thinking of it, a ‘pain point’ with those mechs is the micro switches; they are prone to failure, and should be replaced as a matter of course. All switches are available new, except the ‘readout switches’, which have been out of production for many many years.
Regards,
Matthew

Easier way to close the "override" switch--use the service switch-turn to start scan, return to normal--Ron Rich

Ron
I use the service switch to start the scan then return it to normal.
Matthew
I will check that out.
