The spring fell out of my reversing switch. I put it back but the mech now isn't reversing when it hits the brackets on either side, it just stops. If I lightly touch the blade it switches directions and continues on. Is the spring sprung and in need of replacement? The reversing brackets and stops haven't moved.

Stephen, Either the spring has "sprung" or the restraints are bent on the reversing switch-- see your service manual DRAWING-- restraints ( "upside-down V's") on either side MUST stop the "flipping motion" prior to the spring "flying"--then adjust switch as needed. Ron Rich

Thanks Ron. It was the V. I must have bent one just enough to be causing the problem. Bent the forks back to parallel and it is working again.
