Hi everyone! I'm a newbee and my juke is having some issues I can't figure out. So my unit was working fine then all of a sudden started to re play selections that it had previously played. I pressed the cancellation switch on the back of the unit to cancel the selection that's when the popularity meter solenoid got stuck.Whenever I put it in scan mode it stops but as soon as I flip it over to play the solenoid trips again. Any feedback is appreciated.

Hi Pedro, Not quite clear on EXACTLY what's happening-- Are you "flipping" the Service Switch to operate position when this happens ? Has anyone been "adjusting" the contact point stack Do you have a Service Manual, and do you know how to "clean/adjust" contact blades? Ron Rich

Yes, When I flip over the service switch to the play position the solenoid on the popularity meter gets stuck and buzzes. I have a manual and can check the blade adjustments, but no one has adjusted them.

Hi Pedro, OK--check the SC and C contacts--sounds as if one of them is stuck to the other-- Do you know how to "clean/adjust" them ? Ron Rich

Contacts are good, spacing is good as well. Something I forgot to mention when I put the service switch in to the play position it goes in to a scanning mode and loads a random record.

Pedro, Is the only coil energizing the one for the pop meter--or is one of the pin cancel coils also firing ? How are you determining it plays a "random" selection ? Ron Rich

I noticed that both the pin cancel solenoids and the pop meter are both firing when I put it in the play position.

Pedro, Shut off the power and gently flip the reversing switch. Turn power on and see if the opposite side pin cancel is firing? If so, the wire going from the reversing switch common (center blade), to the SC-C contact points, is pinched somewhere, and going to ground (assuming the contact points themselves are OK as you have stated). I cycled the record and noticed that the reset lever where it hits the reset contacts has a lot of side play and caused it to go sideways getting hung up on the contact which was causing the circuit to stay energized. What could be causing the sudden side play in the trip mechanism?

Pedro, Good question ! Is there a fastener missing on the post that holds the lever (check parts section of the Service manual)--is the post that holds it broken away from the base ? -- When you have a second--Please read and comply with our "posting rules", as shown in our "user introductions \" section here. Thanks, Ron Rich, Board Monitor.

I was finally able to sort this thing out. For some odd reason, maybe from years of use, the shaft that the reset lever is attached to just became loose which caused the reset lever to get hung up on the contacts. I got a used set of levers and a few adjustments after taking the mech apart and she is back alive!!!
