M100B plays with manual selection

looked at a B yesterday.  the select light is illuminated as soon as power is turned on. the ES does NOT take selections. there IS a jumper wire in the CCU allowing freeplay and constant latch bar solenoid engagement. I don't think I could hear the solenoid when I turned machine on. if I manually selected a song and moved the lever on the pin bank, it would scan and play and do as it should. seller said it all worked and then there was a pop and it didn't work anymore. been sitting for years. everything is dry as a bone. i'm ASSUMING the latch bar solenoid burned out which is why it isn't energizing and allowing the ES keys to work properly and stay held down while you make a selection. I realize it could be a number of things yes, but assuming I can move a pin on the pin bank and it all works, the issue is with the selection process not allowing you to input the selection. IF the issue is the latch bar solenoid....how much trouble are we in as far as buying a new one? are they even reman'd anywhere? I just looked at the thing yesterday and based no my findings i'm leaning towards a bad burnt out solenoid...

Kevin,
If "burnt" -- you would smell it--instantly. Check it--l@k at it and see if it's black. If the owner is lucky, it ain't been on fire, and the wiring down to the WSR/CCU is OK. I have a few of them left that can be used as a replacement, if needed. It also may be the previous owner cut a wire to it when he installed that jumper--was a fairly common practice, to prevent fire. IF, so, you should be able to make a selection by holding down tow keys at the same time-- Ron Rich

didn't know that was possible, cut the wire to the solenoid but still able to make selections?! didn't try that though so I dunno if it was the case or not. not able to get in and actually see it while I looked at the box as it's buried down in there and covered up. anyway we were to far away on price for the box and didn't end up getting it....yet. well see if she comes down at all or sells it. was all complete and even had a redhead cartridge too
