Kevin, No sir--remove the top cover of the SAU--you will see the grounding/commoning assembly-- there SHOULD be, a very flexible wire soldered to this and the other end is soldered to theground--it is often broken-or just broken loose. Ron Rich

ron,
I gotcha now. basically it's one wire connected to the assembly and just carrying that contact load to the ground itself and completing it from the SAU to the chassis of the box.
thanks for the explanation kevin

Hi Kevin, Yep--you done gottzit ! Didja look ?? Also--while in this area--check da fuse, for this function--it may spec. a 2 ASB--that's TOO HIGH--MAXIMUM there is a 1.6 SB--critical, unless you wish to learn how to do the nasty task of changing burnt coils !! Ron Rich

ron,
yes sir. both ends of that wire are connected to solder joints still. could the coil inside there between the 2 springs be dirty, or any of the 20 contact points towards the top be dirty? it looks like the pin bank was gone through and serviced as I see some di-electric grease as some points on the pins themselves, as well as the edges (where you can see inside with the springs on the pins and the entire inside) appear to be all clean. thought the guy I bought this box from said he had gone through and cleaned the pinkbank.

Kevin, IMHO, "grease" of ANY kind does not belong near a SAU. If the grounding wire is the soft very flexible, black cloth covered wire, and still long enough to stay out of the way--You got me-- Perhaps the "G" button is defective--not carrying the current it should---?? Ron Rich

ron,
"g button"? the button on the ES itself, is that what you mean? if so, maybe C, as it was typically only "C" selections that were intermittently giving issue. also still gotta find and check this fuse that you mentioned earlier.
thanks kevin

Kevin, NO--You GOTTA find and check the fuse FIRST, before ANYTHING else ! --That is unless you want to be changing SAU coils ! Yep--C, not G-- broke my glasses last week--see the eye doc tomorrow--maybe I will be able to see next week when my new specs come in ?? LOL Ron Rich
