mechanism will scan and pull/play records as it should, but once it gets to the right side towards the end of travel before it switches direction-it kinda looks like it "twists" a bit. doesn't effect operation or anything but isn't somethin I've seen these do, they generally scan and don't "rotate", almost if it's binding or something. also, in any stopped or off position, I can "lift" part of the mechanism up off the base. meaning the carriage bearings that roll along the base are lifted off when I try to pick the mechanism up. not all 4 rollers, but I can get 1 or 2 that'll actually lift off......what kinda adjustments are needed here, or is there some kind of latch or lock that secures the mechanism to the base so it doesn't move off/up like this?

Kevin, Most likely, your Mechanism cord dressing is incorrect. Ron Rich

ron,
cord dressing?! can you expand a bit on what that is, or is it a joke to send new guys like me on a wild goose chase searching for things they don't understand (wouldn't be the first time-gotta learn somehow).

Hi Kevin, Nope--although I am known as a "clown" ( and proud of it !!)-- "Cord dressing" is not a joke ! "Dressing" a wire, or wires, is very important in electronics. You will find that wires are twisted together, in a specific manor, as determined by the person who designed the equipment, to avoid "cross-talk". In the case of the mech cables Seeburg used, the cord dressing, prevented "strain" on them, and the carriage. On the B, the cord ("mech cable"), that follows the carriage, MUST be secured at the base of the carriage by two "plastic, cable clamps". It then runs "down" and should be secured to the cabinet wall by another "cable clamp". The distance from this clamp, and the two above it MUST contain that cord, so NO strain is on it, when the carriage is on either end of the record rack. The cable should be contained by a "strain relief clamp" prior to entering the round rubber " split bushing" that goes from the mech compartment to the WSR section. This clamp, should prevent "pulling" on the cable from the rear compartment On later models, the mech cable was "looped" UNDER the base frame--and must NOT be twisted ! Merry Christmas and HNY to ALL ! Ron Rich
