I finished recapping and replacing all out of tolerance resistors on the SHP3 from my Mardis Gras project box. Was going through the 'Troubleshooting' section of Tony Millers book. Doing the continuity tests (page 39, step 5) C65 tests out fine (steps a-d). C66 tests fine to Q18 and 28 (steps e and f), but ends up with 100ohm resistance when testing to Q16 and Q26 (steps g and h and yes, I'm testing to the collector...I read the FAQs :-) ) Also odd, is that Q16 and Q26 C do have continuity to C65, so C65 has continuity to the transistors collectors on the driver board. What could I have screwed up here???
Thanks Andy

So, after several hours of retesting resistors and tracing circuits and coming up empty, I tried swapping meters. I had been using one of my newer digital multimeters and swapped it for my analog one... EVERYTHING now tests out fine..... Huh??? Almost afraid to power this up ;-) but that’s for tomorrow when I can move some speakers and my turntable down there.

Andy, So fire it up using a dim bulb testor--check bias adjustments when cold ! If OK, it probably will work just fine ! Ron Rich

Snow day here in DC, so after shoveling I did just that, Ron....adjusted the bias using Tonys method (yes, part of the rebuild including rebuilding the bias pots) and fired it up. Works like a champ and even on some cheap in walls I have and using my phone for input it sounds great!
