Hello,
The 100R I've been working on came with a blackhead cartridge and mono needles.
I've tried a couple sets of new replacement stereo compliant needles, but am not happy with the sound. I've adjusted the spring pressure from anywhere between 3-8 grams and adjusted the tonearm balance/etc. per the manual. For whatever reason, I can't seem to adjust out what sounds like a scratching noise at the record, which comes through as a faint high pitch sound being added to the playback audio, almost like someone is shaking a tambourine along with the recording in the background. These same records play great in my other LS1 and up jukeboxes.
The mono needles seem to be much better, but I'd like to be able to play stereo records if possible. I'm fairly confident the rest of the 100R is good (as evidenced by good playback of a good mono record with the mono needles), so I've been focusing on the stereo needles and the spring pressure.
Any ideas or suggestions to try?
Thanks,
Bill

Bill, The R did NOT come with a blackhead cart. A black head cart requires 7 grams of spring pressure to operate correctly-- Never attempted to place a blackhead in a R, so I don't know what to say ?? Ron Rich
