"Forgive me Father Ron for I have sinned"
I bought this SE100 for $75.00 on Craigslist, when I picked up from the Seller I was amazed at the overall condition.
The SE100 was in very nice condition and the record mech was really clean, it looked like someone cleaned the entire mech
using some type of cleaner.
I removed the mech, amp, control unit and front door to lighten the box because in was in his basement and he was
"fussy" about causing any damage.
I got the SE100 home and found following issues;
1. 2 bad casters - fixed
2. the run switch on top of the mech was broken apart so the motor would not run. I fixed it by replacing the run switch with a voltage selector switch from a PC power supply. fixed
3. with the motor running I lifted the release lever and saw the record transfer arm would not lift high enough to load a
record into the mech.
4. I lifted the release arm again and the mech would not scan.
5. The mech while nice and clean was "never" lubricated! So the Detent Arm lever and Gear Segment asm were
severely binding on the shaft.
I lubricated the mech using the Seeburg Lube chart, I was able to free up the Segment Gear asm but not the
Detent Arm lever. I even tried some PB Blaster but that didn't work either. I found if I heated the Detent Arm arm
it would free up but bind up again as it cooled down.
So I disassembled the mech far enough to remove the shaft, detent arm lever and segment gear asm.
I spent over 5 hours performing this whole process and I was tired out!
So when I tried testing the SE100, that when I saw the excessive arcing and created this thread hoping
for a quick fix answer.......my bad.
(my sin)
Since then I have read the FAQ on contact cleaning and adjusting, I even printed it to take to my shop.
The good news is the mech now transfers the record in the mech and the mech now scans, but
the SE100 won't pick a selected record...oh well, ever onward...
