Guys, I'm working on converting my HF-100R back to coin op and have a question about a previous owner modification. It appears the CCU was modified to free play by bending the reset bracket so it no longer cancels a credit when the credit wheel rotates. The latch bar solenoid on the Electrical Selector was also disabled so the solenoid wouldn't burn out in this configuration? My question is that is appears that additional capacitors were connected to the coin switch socket which were attached to ground (see picture below). I'm assuming I can fix the CCU by bending the reset bracket back in place and removing the additional capacitors? I've traced all the other CCU wiring at it appears they match the original schematic. Has anyone else seen this type of modification? Regards, John

Hi John, IMHO, whomever bent that ramp should be severely beaten with a wet noodle ! That is perhaps the worst thing one can do to a phonograph. To undo this, one must totally dis-assemble,clean, oil, ALL of the shafts first. Then re-assemble it and carefully "re-form" that ramp. After that carefully, slowly, operate the cancel coil by hand, while watching the six coin switch levers, pass the ramp, MANY times ! . The ramp MUST be formed such that the levers do not, in any way catch,or are "bent", anywhere on the ramp (which was case hardened at the factory-- "re-form" SLOWLY, or it will "snap") Yes, there were caps on each coin switch. Also, there should be one on the timing relay--change it with the upmost care. Do not over heat, or "wiggle" the terminals, or the coil wire will detach itself. There is also a cap on the socket that should be changed. On the Latch Solenoid--check it before you power it up-should have 6-7 ohms resistance--no ground short ! Also I strongly suggest an electronic "free-play, Latch Solenoid protector" be purchased and added to this CCU system. ( if you wish, contact me at ronnnrich@yahoo.com to purchase one). Ron Rich Rotza Ruck--I can get about a 80-90 % success rate--I think I have done at least 1000 of these . Ron Rich

Ron, Thanks for the insights. The CCU is back in working order and the juke now works with coins - except I think I have the wrong style slug rejector and maybe the CCU is wrong for a HF100R. A nickel gives me 6 plays, a quarter is three plays and a dime is one. Ugh. But, hey - this is a lot a fun! John

John, You need a Service manual PACKAGE,for a R--You have the correct CCU for a WSR-7, which is also correct for the R, J-Jl models. Priceper coin is adjustable--see the manual or, the "Information & Operation"( aka "maintenance" in some models) manual. Ron Rich

Ron, I checked my Service Manual and didn't see how to change the price per coin. I'm assuming you move the credit solenoid positions in the CCU? Regards, John

Hi John, If not in the "Service Manual", it's in the "I&O/Maintenance" Manual. Yes, your "assumption", is correct. Ron Rich

Thanks Ron, I'll look for a I&O Manual. Moving the credit solenoids into the 1, 2 and 6 play positions was a very easy adjustment. Less than 10 minutes to remove the two layers of the CCU to get to the solenoids. John
