Hi all.
I'm trying to get a line on a couple of parts for my Rock-Ola 414S. I'm looking for a "Home Snap Switch" part number 36055 and an "idler wheel spring," part number 30788.
The micro switch seems to have a case of "I'm 54 years old and not as springy as I used to be" syndrome. Since it sits in the off position most of the time, it doesn't spring back after the wheel rotates to play the selection. After I reach in push it up to make contact, all is well.
As far as the spring, it may have the same issue and not providing enough tension. After the first record plops onto the turn table and the needle hits it, it takes a long time to get up to speed. Once it's there, it works fine....and will continue to keep speed for subsequent plays.
Or....am I missing something on these two issues. Thanks in advance for any tips.
Al

Hi Al, PLEASE read and comply with our posting "rules", in the "user introductions" section, and also read the FAQ's section "stickies". As for the "MicroSwitch", if truly a "MicroSwitch", that company is still making them ! ( I don't recall what it looks like ?) As for the Turntable (TT)problems-- On the spring---Unless "someone" has previously "messed with it", it don't need no "messing with" ! If it has been "messed with", it MUST be replaced with the exact correct one ! I would expect that your problem is related to "dirt", an/or lack of proper lubrication. Try removing and cleaning the inner portion of it with a non-residue safety solvent, applied to a rag--also clean the idler wheel, and the shafts of both the TT and idler wheel, then oil both with a 20 wt. ND oil ( get the linkage in there with the oil too). Ron Rich

Hi Ron. Sorry if I missed an FAQ or rule. You're right, it's probably not a "Microswitch" brand switch. That's a generic term I picked up from my father, the ultimate electronic geek, back in the 1960's.

Hi Al, Please READ our rules, and show your location, as requested. --- As for the switch, can you post a photo--It might be a "MicroSwitch", a "Lincoln" switch, a "Cherry" switch, or any other enclosed switch brand ?? Ron Rich

It's the "Home Snap Switch" at the bottom of the write in assembly. Rock Ola part #36055
