Does anyone here offer either an amp replacement or repair service? I am not quite "up to snuff" in my electronics repair to tackle this SHP-3 amp. It's a disco jukebox... the amp currently works, but after a song or two it starts getting really staticy, etc. I am sure the caps need replacing... likely many of the resistors... and probably the pots and sliders need repair/cleaning. I bought a cap kit about 8 years ago but man, that bad boy is daunting to look at with all those caps and resistors and what not and still I don't feel I have the skills to tackle this bad boy.
I'd LOVE to send someone this "working but needs repair" amp and some cash (and I can send the cap kit too ... sure, the caps are likely not the best but all those resistors surely are fine)....in exchange for a nice working and dialed in SHP-3 (or compatible) amp.
Thanks!

So I guess this isn't something people do? Bummer... Can anyone give advise as to the average price I should be looking for when it comes to a fully operational and dialed in SHP-1, SHP-2, or SHP-3 amp?
Thanks!

Please--see our "user introduction" section, and comply with the posting rules-- then read the FAQ's section, as we list "repair persons". I charge around $350.00 + shipping, for a full repair/update on the SHP type amps. They usually run less, but it depends on what's needed. Ron Rich

Ron Rich Will do Ron... sorry if I broke a rule (will check). FWIW I already picked up a fully working/dialed in SHP1... and at the same time determined that rebuilding this one shouldn't be too difficult (i'd never removed the amp prior and I figure if I can rebuilt a monitor chassis, this shouldn't be much of an issue).

By the way... aside from the two additional sliders on the SHP1 versus the SHP3... are there any other differences? Which is considered a better amp (if either)? Thanks! (and I think i'm not within the "rules" by including my location).

Hi Frizzle, Unless you object to being addressed as "Frizzle", I would say you are within the "rules"--thanks ! A lot of changes were made during the ten + years the SHP's were built--see schematics. Typical of Seeburg's operation, they did both--tend to make "improvements", and tend to lessen their cost per unit. I think the SHP-1, with the improved, SOS circuit, and an original volume control, is the better of the bunch---Ron Rich

Frizzle... Friz... FF... hey you... any of that works. Thanks for the opinion. I think I'll rebuild my SHP3 now... it's not nearly as "scary looking" once you pull the amp and take a look under it. Heck, if I can rebuilt a G07 monitor this shouldn't be too hard.

Hey you, I will take a GO-7 monitor any time instead of a SHP-amp--much easier ! But, doable, IF you have Tony Millers "SHP Book". Ron Rich
