I have a problem with my HF100G -- the mech motor (Emerson) does not run. Admittedly the box was overdue
for service, but things were generally working pretty well until a couple months ago. I was having some
problems with selections not playing or cancelling correctly, so I made a couple selections. While one was
playing I selected the record reject switch, and the house breaker immediately tripped. After resetting the breaker,
the motor does not work.
With the Seeburg Trouble Shooting Guide (page 84) as a roadmap, I've observed the following:
1. The fuses I could find on the selection receiver box (5, I think) are OK.
2. Box powers up OK ... at least the lights are on.
3. The socket pins for the 11-pin mech cable read: #1 - Ground, #2 - 25VAC, #4 - 6VAC, #8 & #10 both 120VAC.
4. The reversing switch is powered, 120 VAC on paddles G, J, H, and K. Just as an aside, with the box plugged
in, but main switch off, the reversing switch is still 120VAC... didn't expect that.
5. Selection to play record A1 sets the proper lever on the pin bank, and the Play Control relay is made.
6. Whether the MOTOR service switch is on or off, selecting the SCAN service switch activates the control play
relay, but the mech does not move.
Using the SCAN switch I would have expected some mech movement, there is nothing -- no noise or humming.
Posts I've read and internet searches mention the motor cap as a possibility. Is there a way to test the cap, or don't
bother and just replace it? Any way to test the motor short of removing it?
Hoping to hear any thoughts from other forum members.
Thanks
