Nice speakers! I might have to look into what it would take to swap those out later in my project. First things first... get the wallbox functional.

I had to thoroughly clean the contacts and arm to get a great signal. I think that's where I'm at. I just got done adding the 200 ohm resistor, didn't seem to make a difference. The pulse train is still reading wrong. I haven't cleaned the contacts thoroughly yet though, so that's my next step. Guess I didn't realize the contacts being dirty could throw the pulse train so out of whack. I'll put that down to a lack of experience on my part with these. They are a few years before my time.

Cleaned the contacts, they are a bit worn so I might have a maintenance problem there. Even after cleaning the contacts I still can't get the pulse train to read anywhere close to correct, so I started poking around with the multimeter. I'm assuming that both the numbers and letters on the pulse train should operate the same way. However, after poking around with the multi, I get voltage on all the letters (which I would expect) but nothing on any of the numbers. Explains why everything reads as an A selection. I think this comes back to some connection not being made due to the missing APU. Studying the schematics to figure out what connection I need to make.

Scott, "--cleaned the contacts--" Which "contacts", and, "how" ?? There is no "voltage" applied to that step-up operation--"(nominal) 25 VAC", is on the coils of the stepper--ground is applied by the rotating wiper (as controlled thru the keyboard) via the SCR to each coil, thru the stepper switches. I would ASSume you have an open ground in the number credit section-- where are the album/single wires terminated ? Ron Rich

I cleaned the contacts on the stepper wheel. There's no ground on the number credit section because the multimeter shows no connection when checking resistance between the number points on the stepper wheel and ground.
The schematic shows the letters are directly connected to the signal line which explains why I have voltage there (I want voltage there because the wiper is the ground). But it looks like the power source for the numbers goes through the APU which I don't have.

Oh, I used Deoxit to clean the stepper wheel too.

In the program where it says constants the .014? can be varied between .010 to .018 to "filter" the pulses for best reads. The contacts only have continuity to ground when A81?s pressed

Scott K, (too many "Scott's" --LOL) Seeburg never ( at least post 1948 ?) switch "hots"--therefore, you should be looking for a ground -- which may come thru the APU, or a "carry-over" switch ( which I hope you have not "cleaned" with Deoxit----). Ron Rich

Scott, Not sure I understand. On mine, with the 15 pin connector disconnected and no buttons pushed in, I show zero resistance when connecting the multimeter to ground and any letter pin. I show no connection between any number pin and ground.

But it looks like the power source for the numbers goes through the APU which I don't have. Yes, it appears to me that the pulse circuit for the numbers goes through the APU with two different paths depending on whether the specific number is set for singles or albums.

Ron,
Nope, only thing I touched with Deoxit was the stepper wheel.

Hi Scott, Great-- the "path" should be from the number "strip terminals", to EITHER, APU credit switch( single-album), on thru the carry-over switch(es?)to the wiper disc-- See if you can follow this path with the power off- and a number button "locked down". Ron Rich

Maybe I have it backwards, maybe they are all grounded until a button is pressed. numbers and letters should test the same

Ron,
I show connection from the 15 pin connector pin 7 to the pricing strip terminals. Tried with both 1 and 8 locked in, no connection from the pricing strip terminals to any number pin on the stepper wheel. Not sure what or where the carry-over switches are?
