Update, Now today, got the Magazine to spin!! yes! finally.. I reversed the new diode that was there (thanks to Norman for the correct Schematics!)
I guess the original diode blew due to too much current being drawn from the bad motor back when..? Anyway, now, phase 2 for this repair will be getting hold of a new motor for the Gripper arm.
(does anybody out there have a spare motor (or just the Rotor) to sell perhaps? ,hehe!...I know, these are hard to find)
Many thanks! /Ollie

Hi Ollie, I would replace both diodes with new ones- diodes are cheap ! Check with the suppliers listed in our FAQ's section-- one or more should have a replacement motor ! Ron Rich

Sure, I do have some spare 1N4007 diodes I could use for the second one, no problems.
Thanks Ron! /O

UPDATE, it now runs! full cycle, new motor did the the job. bought one from a guy in Sheffield England, Ebay, arrived fast and well boxed up. Selection seems to be working as it should, only a few kinks to figure out now: Need to trace why Left side is dead (amplifier problem?). I have gone thru all the wireing,(pick up cartridge wireing also) contacts, pots etc. it´s definately the whole Left side section since it´s both woofer and tweeter that´s somewhat dead..I can hear a slight hiss there though, so, it aint totally dead, but signal isnt getting amplified...one transistor in the amp section is much hotter than the other, so, most likely, amplifier problem, as apposed to cables..I guess.. Will report back later, time for some internet searches for Rock Ola amp problems.. Thank you all for your assistance! /Ollie

Hi All, Update, Got the Left Channel to play music now as well, FYI, new Transistors in the Driver board soldered in was the solution. BD137G - Power Transistor and BC547B - Small Signal Transistor. Got stereo now! Sounds good . powerfull bass . I like it. I did a ReBias of the Power amp as well, probably not really needed, but hey..
What I´m working on now is the Selection aspect, seems to have some issues, naturally. doesnt seem to reset much (if at all?), keeps playing the same song(s) all the time..with the occational new song ...Hard for me to get how it´s supposed to act..many mods prior in its life, or? .hmm..
These things are hard to figure out, as mentioned, the machine has had a lotta mods to it over the years, some kinda "free play" mod and what not... I´ll see if a can figure it out.. It also needs adjustment/realignment to the "pick-up" arm/magazine (Read-Out Carrige ajustsment) , some issues there...sometimes misses putting it back into its correct slot. ends up double in another discs place, and it intermittently fails to properly grab the right disc as well.. alas. The more a get to run, the more other quirks show up.. The mech is probably worn, so, it might never be perfect..just the nature of the beast..we´ll see.
But its not all bad, it sometimes picks and plays a few records in a row smootly..
So, I´ll keep at it! Cheers! /Ollie
