Hello again, I have located a second hand box which was apparently working when it was removed. It looks 95% correct. It has an extra piece where mine has an earthing connection but at £40 it may yield some useful parts if nothing else. Only need to undo 4 multi connectors and 2 screws to remove. I'll give it a good clean up when it arrives and see how we get on. I'll check the multi connectors for good contacts as well. Rod

Hi Rod, Are you saying that the original box was not attached to the shelf with two screws ? FYI-- It MUST be so ! Ron Rich Hi Ron, The box was/is attached by two screws, so that is right. The other part has arrived so will clean it up and check the contacts and wiring terminals. If the outcome is the same I will need to start tracing all the wiring with a multi-meter. Unfortunately electronics was never my strong point. Rod

Hi Ron/Norman, checked both boxes side by side on the bench and all readings were equal so installed the new one. Still didn't operate the release solenoid so figured it must be a wiring problem. Checked power on the circuit which all came up okay, so it seemed that I had a problem on the earth somewhere. Started tracing back to the the three micro switches and cleaning connections where possible and we have a now got random record pick up and play but no pick up and return to carousel, although the arm goes through the motion it leaves the record on the turntable. I feel relieved that I'm that bit closer to solving the problems I inherited. Thanks lads, Rod

Hi Rod, READ, the sticky on grippers above ! Ron Rich Hi Ron, I will do that, thank you. I'm going to order some new micro switches as I think number three is sticking. When everything is turned off I can hear a click when I put slight pressure on the lever and it should already be depressed. Rod

Hi guy's, I think we've cracked it. I've only tried a couple of records but it does it without a hitch so time to load up and go through them all to make sure everything is okay. I need to find a reject button for the rear of the cabinet, but other than that we are good to go. I think the micro switches were the main problem. I bought new but reverted back to the originals. Cleaned and reset them as best I could. Re-soldered some bad wires. Rod.
