I have a 2404 that's working fine apart from the carousel being jerky between selections (i.e. staccato rather than continuous movement). I can't find any solutions online or youtube, and have checked there is nothing sticking on the top level carousel, so I think it's lower level/motor-related. I would be very grateful for any advice :-)
I've uploaded a video of the issue to Imgur (includes audio):
Many thanks!
Edit: I've worked out how to embed video and images so will do so now :-)
This here be called the "Famous WurliTzer Shuffle" ! When was the last time this poor phono was properly oiled ?? When was the last time the back-stop pawls were cleaned ? Ron Rich

I'm not too bad at oiling, but of course could be better! I admit I should have kept a closer eye on this :-)
Anything in particular that could be seized up in the lower carousel? The back-stop pawls in the upper caqrousel are fairly clean and well oiled, and aren't sticking. In fact everything up top seems ok...
Well -- one thing-- didja READ the sticky on back stops Didja oil the "center hole", below the fan ? Is the record basket "off it's drive pin" ? Ron Rich

If 'Wurlitzer shuffle' is a common problem, are there any step by step instructions anywhere re how to fix?
I have oiled the centre hole and everything else I could. The record basket seems on its drive pin AFAICT. The problem remains. What should I check next?
The back stops work perfectly and nothing is impeding the upper carousel, so I assume it's in the mechanism of the lower carousel?
The back stops are working fine and not oiled (by me anyway!). I just assumed they had been.
I've greased what I can get to on the clutch etc. Ditto oiled.
The record basket is in place. Although the carousel is jerky when moving, it does get to the correct record selection and loads and plays ok. No change in the jerkiness at all after greasing and oiling.
Are there any videos or explanations about the transfer switch etc? I don't know what you mean by these terms without further explanation. I've got a manual that I'm working through. Very few youtube videos that help with this, at least that I can find :-(
Didja remove the upper rear door- watch the transfer switch- is it being "jogggled" ? It still appears, after re-watching the video, to be a back-stop problem to me-- Ron Rich

I did remove the upper rear door. I took a video (includes audio) of the lower carousel mechanism. There is a switch that is jerky- is this what you mean? Should the switch be clicking like that? Not smooth rotation at all. What is the solution?
Somehow a post did not show up-- try the following-- use the pointer finger nail, on both hands, gently against the back stops--Just add a little pressure to both of them at once-- see if that stops the shuffle ? Ron Rich
