Seeburg Matador not selecting discs chosen

Hello. My Seeburg Matador has developed a strange habit. I select a disc, or a number of discs, and it goes through the selection routine but simply returns to its starting place, usually 277, without playing anything. Occasionally, it will play a record that had been selected some time ago, but usually it just fails to select anything. I have very little knowledge of the mechanics, and would much appreciate some ideas about the possible problem.

There are several things that can cause this behavior.

You will need to determine whether the issue is 'write in', 'read out', or 'sense' related.

A good starting point would be to try the 'battery trick' to help make a determination.

Thank you very much! I'll need to do a lot more reading to understand the abbreviations and terminology in the battery-trick post, but it's a great start!
