Working on a Seeburg 222 and all letter/number combination "write" to the tormat and initiates the mechanism search. 98% of the "A" side of records (top numbers on the letter/number display) "read" fine and play the records. However, most but not all the "B" side of records (bottom numbers on letter/number display) will not "read" and go by the selection and mech goes back to home position. The really odd thing is that most of the missed selections will eventually play later after another different selection is made...sometimes after several selections are made. Can't reproduce however. Hello,
I have exactly the same symptoms on my Seeburg USC2, (not playing most of the B-sides, missed selections eventually play later after different selections...) What did you do to fix this problem (if you found out)?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Hugo, It would seem that you may have a 'read out' problem. This can be confirmed by the 'battery trick', see this thread: jukeboxaddicts.proboards.com/thread/755/battery-trickThe battery trick 'writes in' All selections on the machine. If the problem persists during this test, it confirms a read out issue. Possible issues that could cause a read out issue are a dirty or misadjusted 'detent switch', or a misadjusted 'read out contact block assembly'. These items can be referenced in the service manual. -Marty

Thanks Marty for the reply,
On the left of the mechanism, there are two RCA-plugs (vertical placed, with above the indication "tormat").
I connected the battery on the upper RCA-plug (+ on the ground) and did a scan. No records were picked up, and the juke stopped scanning.
I connected the battery on the lower RCA-plug and started a scan. It started picking up records (all B-sides), but I thought it would pick them all. In stead of that the following order of picking up was: 258,257,256,255,254,252,248,247,246,237,236,235,232,224,222,221,220,217,216,215,214,213,212...
Disconnecting the RCA-plug was enough to stop scanning. but not enough to clear to memory of the tormat. I had to connect the battery reversed to the rca-plug.
But from then on, the jukebox picks up all selections, A and B, like it should!! No failing selections anymore?!?
Is it possible that the memory of the tormat needed a reset (by connecting a reversed battery)
Anyway, happy that it works again as it should. For sure, tomorrow I test again...

It is unlikely that the battery trick had any affect as far as fixing your Tormat.
Still, the most likely cause for this behavior is the detent switch.
If your problem comes back I'd start by cleaning/filing/burnishing the detent switch contact then adjust according the the service manual.
