Hi, I am hoping there is someone out there who can assist me in repairing a Seeburg 222, my closest friend for over 20 years suddenly passed away, leaving a wife and two young children. He had recently purchased the Seeburg jukebox about two years ago, but he was never able to get it 100% operational. I’ve now taken on the project of trying to get the jukebox operational so I can surprise his kids. I found a repair service that offered to come to look over the jukebox but they wanted $400 to just look over the unit, which I felt was not only excessive, but more than I could afford. I’ve made some good progress on my own, but there are still some challenges. I can get the unit to play one record, but it won't go off that record when you select another choice. Can someone assist me through FaceTime to help troubleshoot my issues? I am willing to pay for your time. Thanks in advance!
i am also open to suggesting, I have plowed through the Service Manual, but so much of it is over my head.

How do you get the machine to move on from the current record?
Does the reject button on the rear of the machine function?

Jukeboxmarty, thanks for replying, currently I have yet to get the unit to move from its existing place, (thank goodness it's a cool Buddy Holly song). When I first worked on the unit (4 months ago), when you turned it on, it would pivot from one end of the unit to the other stop. I must have done something (wrong) because it is now set on T4. When I hit the reject button, it puts the 45 back, and if I want it to play I need to use the manual lever on the player to bring the 45 back up to play.
I hope what I just said makes sense.

OK, taking this a step further - you hit the reject button, it puts the 45 back. Presumably it then just sticks there but is the turntable stll turning?
Norman.

I google Detent release lever, I see a picture but I can't find it anywhere on the player mechanism.

See this document: www.jukeboxmarty.com/images/trip.pdfIt's also shown in your manual. I know the manual doesn't say "detent release lever" (just "release lever" or "trip lever"), but it's in there! Don't be intimidated by the manual! You really need to try to get a handle on how your machine sequences. -Marty

Thanks, but I’m confused, does this control the movement of the player left to right, or the capture of 45 to play the record.

to use the manual lever on the player to bring the 45 back up to play.
Just digging through your previous comments. It looks like you've already discovered the release lever?

I would like to unlock the player so I can get it moving left to right.

This lever "trips" the mechanism to enter the transfer cycle, either to load a record to play, or to put it back into the rack.
There are three states to the mechanism movement: Play, Transfer and Scan.
You will need to cycle the mechanism (possibly by hand) in order to release it.

It is possible that the 'safety lever' is preventing the mechanism from transitioning into scan.
You can see the lever on page 2439 of the service manual.
The safety levers do not usually go out of adjustment, but they do get stuck from lack of lubrication.
